FOR SCHOLARS AND EDITORS

Book Acceptance Policy

Transparent assessment of scholarly monographs, edited volumes, textbooks and professional books.

Scholarly monographs: acceptance criteria

Research monographs require a clearly bounded scholarly question, a demonstrable original contribution, engagement with relevant research, transparent methods or evidence selection, a sustained argument, accurate citations, appropriate rights permissions and a coherent intended readership. Proposals should supply a synopsis, chapter plan, author biography, sample chapters and a comparison with related scholarly books.

Complete manuscripts ordinarily receive evaluation from at least two independent subject specialists when suitable for the project. Review may be double-anonymous when feasible; other arrangements are documented. Acceptance is conditional on satisfactory revisions, legal and ethical checks and an executable production plan.

Edited scholarly volumes: acceptance criteria

Edited books need a persuasive unifying research theme, an intellectually justified chapter architecture, named volume editors with demonstrable expertise, coherent contributor instructions, transparent contribution arrangements and a plan for editorial synthesis. A collection of unrelated papers is insufficient.

The publisher reviews the volume proposal and sample chapters, seeks independent assessments appropriate to the field, and records review for individual chapters when needed. Editors must manage chapter-level originality, ethics, permissions, author acknowledgments, reference quality, disclosure statements and revisions. Each published chapter may receive its own landing page and DOI where registered.

Teaching and professional books: acceptance criteria

Textbooks and professional works are assessed for factual accuracy, clarity of learning outcomes, currency of knowledge, structure, instructional usability, inclusiveness, worked examples, exercises and references. Professional advice must distinguish verified evidence from contextual judgment.

Evaluation may combine academic peer review, pedagogical review and subject-practitioner assessment. The commissioning editor records which reviews were performed. Manuscripts must meet safety, copyright, permissions and accessibility expectations before release.
